Houston

Continuing on with our roadtrip, we left Galveston on Friday afternoon and drove back up to Houston. My good friend and old college roommate, Tracy, is getting married in October and I am going to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. We had a wedding shower for her in Houston this past weekend, which one of the big reasons for the trip down.

On Friday we arrived in Houston and went to Matt and Julie's house, our gracious hosts. We spent the afternoon catching up with our friends and hanging out with their sweet little girl, Kelsey. Karrie and her precious little girl, Avery, also came over and hung out for a little while. That evening we went to dinner at Los Cucos with Karrie and Dan (and Avery), and Justin and Tracy- the bride and groom to be. Matt and Julie had gone to the Astros game, so we decided to hang out at their house after dinner with the clan. It was so much fun being together with old friends! Avery and Elijah are only 3 weeks apart, so we let the kiddos play on the floor and it was super cute...especially to the moms. :)

The next morning we had the Bridal Shower for Tracy at Julie's house, which was a lot of fun. We relaxed a little bit in the afternoon and then went to church on Saturday night. After church, Karrie, Dan, and Avery came over and hung out with us again at Matt and Julie's house. We hung out, ate pizza, and just enjoyed being together. It is amazing to me that no matter how long it has been since we've seen each other, whenever we get together it feels like we have never been apart...I guess that is how you know you have some really great friends! We are so blessed by their friendships and are already looking forward to the trip back down in October for Tracy's wedding!

Elijah did great on the trip down and back...so much better than we could have ever expected! He slept or hung out in his carseat and did great. We are so proud of the little guy for being such a sport about being toted around to Galveston, Houston, and back to Dallas. After such a great trip we are looking forward to more roadtrips in the future. Here are a few pictures from our Houston adventure.

Above: Here is the one "family pic" I have of me, Ethan, and Elijah at the restaurant. I realize that this is a blurry picture, but if you squint your eyes and use a little imagination, you can see that it would have been a great picture with Eli smiling and everything. Too bad there is not an "antiblur" fix on the editing software!

Above: Good news...Karrie sent me this picture so now I have a non blurry family pic! Here is one of my and my boys. :)

Above: Dinner at Los Cucos...Karrie and Avery are posing with Tracy and Eli. The kids really look into this whole taking pictures thing. :)

Above: Look at those expressions...they are priceless! I tried to think of something clever to write about their thoughts in this picture but I figured those little faces could speak for themselves...too cute!

Above: Back at Matt and Julie's house...the kids playing on the floor together. "Hey Avery, you're not so bad after all...even if you are a girl."

Above: "Hey Mom, check it out, I finally have a friend my size!"

Above: The former roommates...Jen, Tracy, and Karrie. UPC103 reunite! :) Now all we are missing is Susan and she'll be down for the wedding.

Above: Jen and Eli, Karrie and Avery. So glad that one of my best friends has a baby 3 weeks apart from Eli! I could not have planned it better and it has been such a joy to walk through this amazing experience of pregnancy and motherhood with a friend going through the same things. I love you Karrie and am so thankful for your friendship. We'll give Eli and Avery a few years before arranging their marriage and starting to plan their wedding. ;)

Above: Playing Bridal Trivia at the shower. We asked Justin the questions ahead of time and then Tracy had to answer the questions at the shower. For every question her answers did not match her fiance's she had to put a piece of cinnamon gum in her mouth. She ended up with 7 pieces of gum in her mouth...not bad considering there were 25 questions!

Above: The cake...looks beautiful and tasted great!

Above: The bride and groom to be...what a cute couple!
