Lately

A little bit of what we've been up to lately.  I know the collages are a little bit small, but I loaded them differently so that you can click on them ad they will pop up bigger.  Hope you enjoy!

Making homemade play dough...fun fun fun!

Trick or treating at Daddy's office.  Eli was the cutest little astronaut around!

Shopping at Target with Mommy in his favorite astronaut PJs from Nana and Papa.

Attended a wedding in San Antonio.  Eli had a blast dancing with his cousins!  Now he will often label rugs or other patches of flooring the dance floor. :)

Potty Training!  We had a big potty training day this past week where we wore "big boy undies" and sat on the potty frequently throughout the day to try to get the concept of using the potty.  He had a few successed during the day.  While the next day was a set back and the novelty of sitting on the potty had worn off, yesterday he did great!

My big boy in his big boy undies.  I am not the only one who wanted to capture the moment on film! :) He insisted on not wearing a shirt, I guess he thought it was kind of like wearing a swim suit.

Getting a treat for going on the potty!

Such a cute little booty.  I know this will embarrass him one day, but he is just so cute!

It's a Girl!

Saturday, October 13th was a very exciting day!  Ethan and I had our parents come into town and we had a gender reveal party to find out the sex of baby #2.  We were thrilled to find out that we are going to have a girl!!  Below are some of the pictures of our exciting evening!

Eli with his new best friend Giggles from Nana and Papa

Papa and the Big Brother to be waiting patiently while playing with the IPAD.
Reading stories with Pops

Mamie, Pops, and Eli.  Eli's greatest excitement was not finding out the gender of the baby, but having both sets of his grandparents in.  He looked forward to this event for weeks and it did not let him down!

Loving time with Nana and Papa
Our growing family

We took an envelope with a note from the doctor revealing the gender to a bakery nearby.  They then baked a cake that would be either pink or blue inside depending on the gender.  From the outside you really could not tell!  The cake said "He or She, Open to See!"  Here we are moments before finding out the gender of our second child.

Pink = Girl!!!
Our "just in case" cupcake.  The blue was for the 5% chance that it is not really a girl.  They will confirm at 20 weeks.

Big Brother's reaction...."Nooo, I want a brother."

The cake was delicous!!

Our first things girl...a present from Mamie in a bag that says "It's a girl!" (She is so sneaky...she had a gift ready for whichever gender it would be.  So smart and thoughtful!)

Our sweet present from Mamie...they are indeed!

Smiles with Nana and Papa before they head back home to San Antonio

Storyteller

Today after our music class, I strapped Eli into his car seat and he grabbed my sunshade.  It has accordian style folds, and he held it up and said "wow, this is a big book!"  Then as I started driving across the parking lot I heard him making up a story and flipping the pages of "the book."  It was so cute I stopped, grabbed my camera, and asked him if he would tell the story again.  This is where the video starts.  You can hear him say "okay" to my request and then begin his story.  It appears to be based off of the story of the 3 bears since it is a story about a little boy, a bear, and porridge. :)  After this he "read more stories from his book", including one that closely resembled the story of The Very Hungry Catepillar.  I was driving at this point so I didn't think it'd be wise to try to record it, but it was pretty cute.  I sure do love Eli's giant imagination!

Baby #2!

While I am sure that most people know that we are expecting by now, I realized that I have not officially posted anything on our blog about it yet to date (minus a few comments in pictures).  If you have not yet been privy to that information, then surprise! ;)  If so, here is a little recap so far on the pregnancy.

First off, we must give all glory and praise to the One to whom praise is due.  Thank you, Lord, for this wonderful blessing!!  Our hearts are truly grateful, for we know that God alone is the creator of life and we are so thankful that He is choosing to bless us with another little precious life in our family.

The first trimester was successful and symptomatic.  Successful in that the baby is growing just as it should be, but may I say that I certainly "felt" pregnant.  With Eli I did not experience much nausea so even though I have always heard that "every pregnancy is different," I pretty much expected the same thing as the first one.  This was not the case, but I am so thankful that all of those symptoms meant that the baby was healthy and doing exactly what it needed to do!  Thankfully, Eli still takes one long nap during the day and I joined him for MANY of those naps. :)

I have since made it to the second trimester and am feeling a lot better.  We went in today for the first ultrasound since 11 weeks (which felt like a long time for us) and praise God everything was perfect!  The doctor predicted that it was going to be pretty big baby.  She kept saying how "huge" the cord was and even said "I think that is the biggest cord I have ever seen!" :)  She asked me again how big Eli was and I said 9lbs 1 oz.  She said that they usually add a pound with ever subsequent baby and said that this was likely to be a 10 pounder and she did not want to stick around to see the 11 lb baby. :)  This was not shocking to my mom, who also "birthed" rather large babies (10.2, 10.5, and 9.5) so I guess it is just in my genes.  Anyway, regardless of size, we are just so thankful for a good report and happy to get to see our little one today.  The baby was moving a ton...maybe signs of an active one to come.  Better get my naps in while I can!

And as usual, no post from me is complete without at least a few pictures...

Finding out I was pregnant back in July!  Such an exciting day!!

First ultrasound at 7 weeks.  We were so thrilled to hear the heartbeat of our teeny tiny little baby!  Our doctor heard the strong heartbeat and said, "do you hear that, it is like a machine gun!"  It made us laugh, and yet so happy at the same time.  Praise God!

Family trip to the doctor today for our 16 week ultrasound.  Eli (as well as Ethan and I) have been so excited to see the "baby in Mommy's tummy."  We came armed with a bag of books, and Daddy and Eli were enjoying a little story time while waiting for the doctor.

Eli loves the book "Go Dog, Go" and can practically recite the whole thing by himself.  Makes reading stories pretty easy on our part. :)

‎16 weeks pregnant, baby and baby bump are growing! We went in for an ultrasound today and praise God everything was great! We left with the gender sealed in an envelope, to be revealed this weekend in a cake.  Mamie, Pops, Nana, and Papa will be coming in town for our little "gender reveal party."  We can't wait to find out the gender soon, and Eli cannot wait to have cake! :)  Most of all we are just so thankful for a good report and a healthy growing baby.  Thank you, Lord!

Birthdays and Recent Happenings

We hope that you have been enjoying the gorgeous weather lately, as it has been beautiful here! We have loved getting to play outside and soak up this awesome time of the year where it is not too hot and not too cold, but just right as Goldilocks would say. Hmm, maybe I have been reading the story of the 3 Bears a little bit too much. :) Anyway, we have been having a ball lately. We are exceedingly grateful to God for every good thing He has put in our life, for surely they are many! Here are some recent pictures of Cislaghi life.

Jen's Birthday

Photobucket
One September 20th, I turned the big 31!  Me and my handsome hubby went out to Pappadeux's for a delicious dinner to celebrate.

Photobucket
The next day we went to the A&M vs SMU game.  It was here in Dallas at the SMU campus, which made it much easier to have someone watch Eli for us.  We loved getting to go and cheer on the Aggies in person for the first time since I was a few months pregnant with Eli.  Now I am just about as far along with number 2, so the "kids" will be even with Aggie games attended in utero. :)

Photobucket
This was a great game to watch, as the Aggies blew the Mustangs away!

Photobucket
Ah, the Aggie Band...just like old times.  We of course thought of how much Eli would have loved to see all of those instruments. :)

Photobucket
On my actual birthday, Eli and I had a great time hanging out together.  We started out the day at Starbucks with my free birthday drink and a cinnamon roll...yummy!  Go figure, Eli loved the cinnamon roll and ate most of it. :)

Photobucket
We then had quite the interesting afternoon.  We went to Old Navy to look at maternity clothes for me and see if there was anything cute for Eli.  We were trying on clothes in the dressing room when Eli found my half full coffee cup.  Sure enough, he happened to slip at that moment, the top popped off, and caramel macchiato flew everywhere!  The good thing was that the coffee was cold by then, the bad thing was that all of our clothes were soaked.  So, I grabbed some paper towels, cleaned up the mess, and stripped my screaming kiddo down to the diaper.  We then went out in the store looking for clothes to buy and wear out that weren't soaked with coffee.  Since all of the fall wear was out most things were long sleeve, but it was still a pretty hot day.  I found this shirt and these shorts for $5.  I found it ironic that the only short sleeve tee I could find said was "Happy Birthday to Me!" but when I read it it seemed quite appropriate. :)

Photobucket
Ah, sorry these are sideways.  I will try to remember to go load the flipped ones.  Here we are singing "Happy Birthday" to Mommy and Eli.  You can guess which one of us got to blow out the candle. :)

Photobucket
My sweetest birthday present indeed, thank you Lord!

Rainman

Photobucket
Our little fireman all suited up for the rain.

Photobucket
Another rainy day.  We had built a "campfire" previously which Eli loved.  There is a Curious George story that we read often where George goes camping and builds a campfire.  We never got any fire really going, but it made no difference to Eli...he thought it was great all the same!

Photobucket
Another sideways one, but super cute.

New Friends

Photobucket
Eli with his new friends Mr. Danny and Mrs. Michelle.  Our church hosted a pastor's conference recently and we had this sweet couple stay with us.  We were so glad to get to know them and look forward to going to visit them soon when we are down in San Antonio.

Photobucket
Danny and Michelle surprised us by leaving gifts for us in their room.  Eli got a fishing game and it was instantly a new favorite.

Puzzles and Cars

Photobucket
Lately Elijah has been much more interested in puzzles.  I have to help him get the pieces in the right order, but he loves two train puzzles (numbers and abc trains) that he got from Mamie and puts it together himself.

Photobucket
After building the train, it becomes tracks to push his cars back and forth on.

Photobucket
Fun times with my little cutie!

Getting some "Extersize"

Photobucket
What every kid needs to have fun outdoors...a plunger (aka hammer) and a toilet seat (aka nails).  Go figure, we get some strange looks by the people driving by. ;)

Photobucket
He likes to swing his plunger like a sledge hammer against a tire.  Jillian Michaels would be so proud. :)

Photobucket
Boomerang, the ever faithful companion, helping out.

Photobucket
So expressive.  "You going to help me Mommy or just stand there and take pictures?"

Photobucket
"All in a hard day's work..."

The More the Merrier

Photobucket
For our morning walk yesterday, Eli insisted on taking all of his friends along for the ride: Teddy Bear, Ranger Bear, Doggy Star, and Ranger Pillow.  Go figure, Eli named his animals himself.

Photobucket
Who could say no to that sweet face?

Photobucket
After our walk, we realized that we had a man down.  Ranger Bear managed to slip off the stroller without being seen.  Eli asked me if I thought Ranger Bear was walking home to our house.  While I'm sure he was probably heading our way, we went to find him in the car as it would be quite the walk for a little teddy.  Thankfully we found him and Eli was very glad.  He gave Ranger Bear a big hug and a kiss when we found him, and even shared his celebratory Starbucks milk with his found friend.

Batter Up

Photobucket
Playing baseball on the front porch.  After hitting the ball, Eli would turn around, run all the way across our house to the laundry room door, which you can see in the back, fall on the ground, and run back.  A good way to wear out a little energetic toddler for sure!

Photobucket
"Hey batter batter, swing batter batter!"
Photobucket
"All right, let's see what you got..."

Photobucket
"Home Run!"

Money Man

Photobucket
We cannot pass the "coin chest" without putting money in.  I am glad Elijah already has a little heart to give.

Pops's Birthday

Photobucket
In Anna with Pops, Mamie, Amber, Eric, and cousins to celebrate Pops's birthday.  Abram is zeroes in on those cupcakes.

Photobucket
Pops with the grandkiddos

Photobucket
Cheese!!

Photobucket
Eli still gets a little upset after blowing out the candles :)

Photobucket
He quickly made a turnaround after relighting the candle, getting the seat of honor on Pops's lap, and eating some delicious cake and ice cream.

Carlos's Birthday

Photobucket
Eli with his little buddy, Carlos, who lives across the street.  We were celebrating Carlos's 3rd birthday at a park nearby.

Photobucket
Boys will be boys.  My favorite thing is that Carlos pretty much only speaks Spanish, Eli pretty much only speaks English, and yet the two have a blast together!  It is so cute...guess you don't need words at all to be buddies when you are 2-3. :)

Photobucket
Eli's goodie bag from the party.  Yoshi not only held all sorts of delicious candy inside, he made a great friend and toy to play with!

Toys R Us

Photobucket
More time with Garfield...a favorite past time of ours.

Photobucket
Getting in some practice driving early

Sand Man

Photobucket
Playing outside at the park on a gorgeus day.  Eli wanted to take off his shoes and socks and play in the sand.

Photobucket
So messy, and yet so wonderful.

Breakfast and Bubbles

Photobucket
Blowing bubbles outside while eating his granola bar (aka "gro bar") for breakfast.  Way to start theday out right!

Photobucket
"Here Mom, let me show you how to do it."

Photobucket
"Oh boy, I knew she wouldn't get it right."

Kindermusic

Photobucket
Since Eli is so into music, we signed up for a little music class that we do together on Wednesdays.  We are really enjoying it!  Most of the time I am participating with him and can't really take pictures, but during story time I got a free moment.  He is such a good little listener and is pointing out the kangeroo hiding behind the tree. :)

Kroger Pumpkin Patch

Picking out pumpkins at the "Kroger Pumpkin Patch"

Our family pumpkin portrait:  Clockwise from top left- The Daddy Pumpkin, The Mommy Pumpkin, The Eli Pumpkin, and The Baby Pumpkin. :)

Picking Mushrooms

Photobucket
Eli and I discovered a large patch of mushrooms on our walk a few weeks back.  Here we are stopping to smell the roses, aka stopping to pick the mushrooms.

Love from Nana and Papa

Photobucket
At the beginning of September, we made a trip in to SA for a quick visit.  I forgot my camera, but here are a few cute pictures my mom sent me from the weekend.

Photobucket
Eli getting love from his Nana and Papa, and loving it!

Playing his sweet new guitar from Papa!

Project Life

Photobucket
My good friend Karrie finally convinced me to start a new keepsake project called Project Life.  I like to think of it as a scrapbook for dummies. :)  You can google it to find out more info if you are interested.  Eli loves looking at pictures so much, and while I will post them online I have been historically bad at printing them out.  This helps me to organize, print, and preserve fun family pictures and memories.  So far it is going well.  Thanks Karrie for introducing me to this cool idea!
