Today is Elijah's 9 month birthday! My how the time flies. It seems like just yesterday, and at the same time a life time ago (and in some ways, it was) that we met our little man for the first time. Before we know it we will be celebrating Eli turning a year old at his big 1 year birthday blowout, complete with a petting zoo, face painters, men on stilts, clowns making balloon animals for the kids, and the biggest cake you have ever seen. Just kidding Ethan. ;)
We just got back from the doctor for Elijah's 9 month check up. They said that he is healthy and growing and developing right on schedule. He weighed in at 19 lbs 8 oz and was 30 inches long.
Here is a brief list of things our little adventurer is doing now:
1. He LOVES to stand up and climb on things. Dresser nobs, tables, chairs, stair spindles, and laundry hampers all make great jungle gyms to climb on.
2. He stands one handed and is starting to cruise around the edges of things. I'm sure this kiddo will be off an walking before long...
3. He likes to eat food and especially enjoys trying to feed himself.
4. He loves drinking water out of his sippy cup (with Mom's help) or out of the end of a straw.
5. He likes to play with Boomerang's food and water if it is within reach. He also loves Boomerang and laughs at him all the time for no apparent reason.
6. He likes opening and closing doors, cabinets, drawers, etc.
7. He is a constant babbler and says "mama," "dada," and a whole bunch of other incomprehensible baby talk.
8. He is teething like crazy! He has two teeth on the bottom, which he has had for a while now. His top 4 front teeth are all working on coming in. The left most of the front 4 broke through a few days ago and the other three are not far behind. I can see a bunch of white up there and I'm sure they will cut through any day.
9. He likes "dancing" to music and singing. When I will sing a song and start clapping he will look up at me, smile, and then start bouncing up and down. It makes me feel very affirmed in my musical abilities. :)
10. And while I could continue on with this list all day, my final observation is that he loves, loves, loves to play! He is such a giggly and happy boy! He loves playing with Daddy when he runs back and forth in his walker or when Ethan picks him up and tosses him in the air. He also loves to play peek-a-boo, patty cake, and all sorts of other silly games with Mommy.
Children are just the greatest blessing and enrich our lives more than we could have ever imagined. We love you, Elijah, and are so glad to have you in our lives. You are God's abundant gift to us and your Mommy and Daddy treasure you more than you will ever know. Happy 9 months little man!
A&M
Here is a picture of Elijah that I took this morning. Happy 9 months little Aggie! |
Can't get enough of that sweet face. |
Elijah has on his A&M outfit so he can cheer on those Aggies tonight in the Cotton Bowl. Gig 'em Aggies! |
Feeding
Ready for lunch! |
No pictures please....I'm trying to eat here! |
Fun with finger foods |
Concentrating very hard on grabbing those peas. |
"I got one!" |
"Mmmmm...delicious!" |
Eli enjoys getting all of the food and putting it in his mouth more than chewing. I had to pick up the rest of the peas so that he would stop and remember to chew. :) |
Cleaning
Elijah is quite the little helper when it comes to household chores. |
Here Elijah is helping Mommy vacuum. |
He is also helpful when it comes to cleaning out the refrigerator. |
"Mom, these sodas have got to go..." |
"...and this bottle too. Do you really need teriyaki sauce?" |
"This is going to really take some time...better make myself comfortable." |
Elijah helps me sweep the floors... |
...although he is still figuring out how the broom works. |
We are not the most efficient pair, but he sure makes it more fun. |
Elijah also helps me with the laundry. |
"I think this load is just about finished Mommy, the clothes stopped spinning." |
Although sometimes he does get distracted by the dog bowl. |
Teething
Eating a teething biscuit for the first time |
"Now what is this?" |
Playing, as usual. |
Delicious...but messy! |
"Wow, this stuff is good!" |
"Why don't you try it, Mom? Just a little bite..." |
"Are you sure you don't want any...you are really missing out." |
"Here Boomerang, you taste it." |
Notice Boomerang eating the rest of the treat while Elijah goes on to bigger and better things. :) |
Those words you don't understand are really Nana. Just thought you might want to know!
