Ride On

Some of our most faithful "blog followers" are Elijah's wonderful great grandparents, Gimps and Gloria.  For Elijah's first birthday, Gimps gave Elijah some b-day cash to spend as he desired.  Ethan and I figured it was a good time to start teaching Eli about money management.  We sat down with our little man and discussed stocks, bonds, 401ks, cash and cash equivalents. :)  After a thorough presentation of all of the options, we asked Elijah what he would like to do with his b-day cash.  You can see the investment he chose below.

Alright, so we didn't really ask a 13 month old how he wanted to spend his cash...we may wait until he is at least 14 months for that responsibility. :)  Elijah and I went to Toys R Us to purchase him some new wheels and he absolutely loves his new toy. We went to a friend's house recently and they had a few of these ride on toys and Eli was obsessed with it the entire night. I had a few coupons to Toys R Us and I had been waiting to buy a fun present for Elijah with his money from Gimps. So, we went to the store, picked out Eli's first car, and he has been cruising around ever since! Gimps and Gloria, thank you so much for the birthday present! You can see how much your great grandson is enjoying it below. We can't wait to see you guys soon!

Just got home and took it out of the box and off he goes!

He is surprisingly quick pushing his car!  By the time I could snap another picture he was all the way across the room.  Notice Boomerang following closely behind, monitoring his every move. :)

Happy as can be!

I love the Michael Jordan tongue in all of these pictures.  This is the sort of focus and determination that gets you dunking from the free throw line.

Day two with his new ride on and he is already getting so much better at steering his new car.

Day two he discovered how to sit on it and that opened up a whole new world of fun!

Back to walking.

Elijah sat down on his car again, but this time got on the wrong way.

"Hmmm...something just doesn't seem right about this."

He looks like a laid back driver already with one hand on the wheel...

Let me just get off and try again.

"Yay!  Thanks for my new car Gimps and Gloria...I love it and I love you!"
