Little Boy, Big Messes!
Yesterday Elijah had quite the eventful day. He was busy making all kinds of messes! We have some friends who were going to come by and visit Elijah. I had just finished nursing him and was going to change his diaper right before they arrived. As I was wiping him and changing his diaper, he decided that he was not finished going to the bathroon and...(brace yourself if you get easily grossed out)...sprayed number 2 all over the changing table pad. I wiped him down and wiped off the mat but didn't have time to take it off before they arrived. They came in and held him for a little while and then asked to see the nursery. I gladly showed them and did not remember about the poopy changing pad cover until we got up there. I told them the story and we laughed as I took off the cover, put it in the laundry, and replaced the cover with a clean one.
Later that afternoon, the time came for another feeding and diaper change. He had another dirty diaper and I was wiping him down when for the second time that day, he sprayed number two again! This time it went all over the mat, changing table, and even the wall! I laughed out loud because it caught me by surprise at how far his "projectile poop" went. I grabbed a burp cloth and started wiping the wall to try to stop the mess from dripping behind the dresser. Right about that time, I felt a warm stream spraying in my direction. Even though I had covered his little "peepee" with a wash cloth, it had slipped off in all the commotion and now he was spraying me with number 1. I put up my hand to block the stream and continued to laugh. Right about the time he finished peeing, he started spitting up! As Ethan put it, all orifices in his body were erupting! You can see pictures of the clean up below.

Nursery Pics
I have had a few requests for nursery pictures, so here some that we took right after we finished it. Note that it was back before Eli was born, so a few things have moved around since then, but you get the idea.
Above: Ethan in the nursery with an Aggie jersey that we got from Michael and Jenny for Christmas. At the time we thought this seemed tiny...now it looks huge!
Above: This is a view of the changing table...an area I have come to know quite well.
Above: Here is the big comfy recliner that I spend many hours in. We also got this from Michael and Jenny, along with the crib, changing table and sooooo much more. We are so grateful for everything that they have given to us...it has been a huge blessing to us and to Elijah.
Above: This is a little train that we hand painted that sits on Eli's shelf. We had craft day and were so excited that everything turned out well. We also painted the shelf and the letters on the wall over his crib brown.

A Cry for Attention
A House Divided United
As many of you basketball lovers out there may know, the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs are in the middle of an intense battle in the first round of the playoffs. The Spurs currently lead the series 3-2, but we are sure that it is only a matter of time and that Dirk, JJ, and the rest of the Mavs will make their big move to seize the lead and go on to win not only this round, but ultimately to become NBA Champions! So how is it, you might ask, that our Dallas born 3 week old, Elijah, is found in the sports garb pictured below?! Nana C is the culprit, filling his young little mind with sports bias already. You can see our little man below cheering for the Spurs enemy during the Mavs greatest time of need. :)
Ethan's comment on the picture above:"I see that he’s crying in that third one. I think the outfit is burning his skin. Please take extreme caution and put some baby oil on him to get him well." Go Spurs Go!

Elijah's First "Big Boy" Bath
Today Eli had his first bath in his very own bathtub. Before we had just given him sponge baths, but since his belly button is now umbilical cord free he got promoted to the big boy tub. He wasn't a big fan at first, but as the bath went on he seemed to like it a little more.

The Family Bassinet
Ethan's mom brought a bassinet for Eli that many people in his family have slept in. The list of people starts with Eli's great aunt, Paula, who slept in this bed in 1956. Below you can see pieces of duct tape listing everyone who slept in the bassinet, including Ethan's sister and her kids, his cousins, Ethan himself and now his son. I think this is such a neat family tradition and a piece of history that Eli can be a part of. You can see he seems to like the bassinet...
Our Little Man
The Responsible Parents
Elijah's Grandma, aka Mamie, is in town this week helping out with the little guy. After we discovered that Eli was in good hands, we made a run for it and went out for a quick dinner with just the two of us. We went to a little Mexican food restaurant down the road named Gueros and had a great time.

Discovering My Eyes
Eli is becoming so much more alert! He seems to be discovering his eyes and really inspecting everything around him. It is hard to try to catch a picture of him with his eyes wide open without him looking like an alien, but here are a few attempts. :)

Morning Outing
Don't tell the doctor, but this morning Mom, Dad, and Eli went to Starbucks for some coffee and a paper. Not to worry, we took precautions with the little slugger. We didn't permit anyone to approach the baby who had oozing sores, foaming mouth, or yellow eyes (a sure sign of malaria). It was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed the time outside...and away from dangerous people. :)

How to Choose...How to Choose?
The wonderful thing about digital cameras today is that you can take hundreds of pictures at no extra cost. The bad thing is how can I possibly choose just a few of those precious pictures to post and to print? Here are a few of our little cutie, Eli, who is two weeks old today!

My Husband the Chef
My wonderful husband is off of work this week for his parental leave. He told me that he was kicking me out of the kitchen and taking over the cooking. Friday morning he began his meal planning and put on an apron (as pictured above) for inspiration to get in the chef spirit. So far we have had chicken cooked out on the grill and sweet potatoes, which was delicious, and some awesome Green Chili Beef Burritos (pictured below). I have been super impressed so far and cannot wait to see (and taste) what is for dinner tonight! :)
