It is hard to believe that August is nearly over and September is just around the corner! I am so grateful for these sweet days and truly treasure each one as a gift from our incredibly good God. Ethan and I are so blessed, and while we look forward to all of the great things that lie ahead in the months and years to come, we acknowledge that today is precious and to be enjoyed. This time of ours as a family of three with a happy go lucky two year old and our trusty canine Boomerang at our feet is a time that I will always remember with warm smiles and happy memories.
Alright, reminiscing aside and back in the present, here are some pictures of the second half of our month. Hope you enjoy!
Firsts
This month came with a few firsts. Eli slept in a "big boy bed" for the first time. While he is still currently sleeping in his crib, he has taken a few naps on the big bed in our guest room. We're going to change out his crib for a twin bed here soon, but it is good to know that he has had a few successful naps on a big bed! Another first is that Eli went "poopoo" on his little potty! I will spare you the picture on that one, so you will just have to take my word for it. :) While we have only had one successful potty attempt at this point, I count that as progress and felt it to be blog worthy documentation. :) |
This picture is a little blurry, but you can see Eli playing my pot as a violin using his drum stick as the bow. And the music obsession continues...major points for creatvity here Eli! |

Eli piling himself under a mound of blankets and just getting "all cozy."

A sweet potato from my pantry...I wasn't quite sure whether I should plant it or eat it! I decided to compost it (we got a compost tumbler for our backyard). Our of laziness I did not chop it up but threw it in whole, sure that the worms in there would chomp through this thing in no time. Much to my disappointment, it is still currently whole. Ethan and I now have a little bet going...I think that by the time our compost is finished this sucker is going to be nothing but dirt, but Ethan thinks he is going to find and throw away a whole potato. We will keep you updated as the the results come November. Go worms!

Eli has lately been very interested and entertained with piecing together his letter mats.
Building his "track" |
Very focused! He will do this for a long time and then when he is finished he will proudly come and get me to show me his track. |

Hmm, starting to suspect a little type A coming out in my first born. Can you guess who reorganized my kitchen? |

Splash Park
We went and met some friends at a splash park nearby. This was our first time here and it was a really cool place! |
Awestruck |

Surfing the perfect wave |
Guess who found a piano? :) There is no way my little musician was going to miss this! |
Whew, all that playing makes a boy hungry! Nothing like a little raisins and pretzels to refill the old tank. And in case you are wondering, Eli fixed his hat like this himself. :) |
Houston
This past weekend we made another trip into Houston for a friend's baby shower. We had a great time and the shower was a success. We especially loved getting to hang out with many of our friends from college who are now living in Houston. While I am sad to say that I do not have a single picture of them, I do have some of Eli with new best friend Kelsey. :) Shocker, I know...no pictures of us, tons of the kid. |
We beat our friends Matt and Julie to their own house, so we took advantage of their toys and play area in the back yard.

Eli and Dada after church on Saturday night. Eli was not into this photo op.
Eli: "Let me down!" |
Dad: "Just give a quick smile and your Mom will let you get down and play."
Eli: "Are you sure about this Dad?" |
Eli: "Alright, one quick one and then I am outta here."

Eli and Kelsey cruising in her sweet ride! |
The expression on Eli's face here cracks me up. If you look closely you can see he has his tongue out. :)
Kelsey told Eli that it was time to stop and "go to school" |
Eli happily playing along. "Well, what do we do now?"
Time to load back up! |
Change in drivers...this might require a little supervision. |
Whoa! And they're off with a jolt...so much for finesse. :) |
Everyone always told me he'd be driving before I knew it... and boy were they right! |
Eli and Kelsey ditched the pink car for their bikes after a while. Eli borrowed this sweet bike and got the hang of it in no time. |
"Ahh, this is the life. I was born to ride." |
That't it for now! Hope you enjoyed the "ride". :)
