Eli loves to play in the backyard and somehow doesn't seem to notice the 100+ degree temperatures. :)

I love this boy!

"This is the life!"

"If I had a nice tall cup of milk in my hand this would be perfect."

Photobucket
Oops, leaned back just a little too far :)

Elijah discovered and hijacked my roll of foil from the pantry

"Wow, it just keeps unrolling!"

Photobucket
"Why have we not played with this stuff before, Mommy?"

Photobucket
As you can see, we had plenty of available foil to play with, so Eli and I got to creating...

Photobucket
I made Elijah some new shoes.
We also made hats, swords, and even foil glasses...the possibilities are endless. :)

Photobucket
"Do you really expect me to wear these, Mom?"

Photobucket

Photobucket
"They hardly have any arch support..."

Photobucket
"But I guess I can make the best of it..."

Photobucket
"Wait a second, are you joking?"

Photobucket
"Ahhh, I can't believe I fell for that!  Of course they are just play shoes! :)"

The Great Indoors

It has been hot, hot, hot around here lately!  In order to get out of the house and have some fun this weekend, Ethan and I had to be a little more creative since most things outdoors were off limits.  What better than a shop about the great outdoors...that is indoors and air conditioned!  We went up to Bass Pro Shop for Elijah's first visit to the larger than life store and had a great time.  We played in tents, looked at boats, tried on hats, watched the fish, and more.  Here are a few pictures of our indoor adventure.

Elijah checking out the massive fish

Photobucket
"Can I have one of these to put in a bowl in my room?"

Photobucket
Big, ugly fish stares Eli down from the other side of the glass.

Conquering Mommy's fear of sharks!

Photobucket
Me:  "Alright, that's enough...I'm outta here."
Eli:  "What's the big deal, Mom, sharks aren't scary at all!"

Ready....

The Ark...and other random photos

Elijah had been in the process of "transitioning" from two naps down to one. While it was my intention to avoid this transition until Elijah was at least 10, the "napee" had other thoughts on the matter. The transition has not been a seemless one, but we are making progress as Eli is sleeping at the moment. We are working on stretching his one nap so that he can get the rest he needs (and so that mom can get the break that she needs) and make it cheerfully through the afternoon until bedtime. That said, our days have been much more active lately! With much more "play time" now available, Eli and I have gotten out and about much more. We have gone up to the neighborhood pool a few times and had a blast! Unfortunately since my camera is not waterproof, and I was playing with the kiddo in the water, I do not have any pool pics, but suffice to say it has been great time for us both. We have also discovered an indoor area at a church nearby called the Ark. It is a fantastic place (and air conditioned!) and Elijah and I have also had a great time playing there recently. There are plenty of other moms, dads, and kids there which makes it a fun place for us both to expend energy and communicate with the outside world. :) Here are a few pics of the fun that we have been having at the Ark and some other random pictures of our recent summer fun!

Fun times at the Ark!

Checking out the obstacles

Eli's favorite thing...the punching bags.

A little blurry, but quite an excited little pointer

The fun continues at home.  Playing "hide and seek" in the laundry hamper.

Photobucket
We spent the 4th of July (really the 2nd) in Tyler with family and had a great time in our matching flag shirts!

Photobucket
Elijah is recently into pull toys.  Here he is taking the "horsey" for a walk.

Photobucket
A little indoor golf helps to pass the time

Photobucket
Surely he will be the next Rory McIlroy, thanks to Target for the $2.50 clubs. :)

Photobucket
More pointing...

Fence handles are enthralling!

Photobucket
Oops, 15 months old and already picking up mom's coffee habit

Photobucket
Delicious!

First time at the Ark...playing in the mesh

Photobucket
Off he goes!

Photobucket
Driving to the pool!

Hmm, must have picked up this trick from Boomerang.

And finally, more emphatic pointing.  In this picture, he is pointing at a large picture of himself on the wall (thanks Lolly!). :)

Also, a few "first" updates from this week:
-Eli left his hat on for the first time ever when we went to the pool recently.
-Eli figured out how to take his diaper off by himself in his crib.  Farewell t-shirt/diaper naps!
-Eli pointed to his nose and has also learned to say "wow" which sounds more like "ow"

That's it for now!  Hope you are all having a great summer and will post more of our fun adventure pics soon!
